Cursed Student (True Love) Guide

Find the unit players call Yuta under Cursed Student, then build True Love around Cursed Mimicry, Spirit Bats and the right adjacent ally.

Cursed Student (True Love) is an S-tier Mythic scaling carry whose result depends on two relationships: the closest unit supplies part of Cursed Mimicry, and Bleed stacks in range create Spirit Bats. The unit still attacks without a Bleed team, but a careless support placement or an unverified status source can remove much of the build’s ceiling.

How to obtain and evolve Cursed Student

Cursed Student is part of the Mythic release roster, and current indexes describe obtaining the base unit before evolving it into True Love. Banner pools rotate, so use the active Rates panel for the current banner, displayed odds, and pity rather than assuming the unit is always featured.

The documented True Love recipe is 1 Student ID, 20 Blue Sprites, 20 Purple Sprites, 1 Rainbow Sprite, and 5,000 Gold. Confirm the same list in Evolution before spending because recipes can change. Lock the base unit and Student ID. If the card already says Cursed Student (True Love), compare it only with showcases and rankings that use the same form.

How Cursed Mimicry works

The documented release behavior triggers a copied follow-up every third regular attack. The current record describes that hit as 100% of Cursed Student’s current damage plus 40% of the closest unit’s current damage. A later attack or upgrade is documented as raising the closest-unit share by 20%, but the exact unlock point should be read from the live upgrade path before you plan spending around it.

Placement is therefore part of the build. Put the intended developed attacker closest to Cursed Student. A low-damage buffer, farm unit, or emergency placement can become the new copy target and reduce the follow-up. Recheck the relationship whenever you move, sell, or add a unit.

How Spirit Bats and Bleed work

Current kit and equipment documentation record one Spirit Bat for every 20 Bleed stacks inside range, with a cap of three. Each Bat attacks three times at 25% of Cursed Student’s current damage before disappearing. The 15% and 50% figures repeated by older pages conflict with the current ability and equipment records; compare the live True Love card after balance changes.

Do not identify Bleed by animation color or by the word “Mark.” Crimson’s delayed mark, explosion, and pool are not automatically Bleed. Use a teammate only when the live enemy status icon explicitly shows the Bleed effect Cursed Student counts. The status effects guide explains the same verification boundary.

Best Trait for Cursed Student

Unbound is the optimized target because copied attacks and summons scale from current damage while SPA and Range support more trigger opportunities. Draconic is a practical stop only when the team reliably maintains the Bleed or DoT plan. Primordial remains a broad all-round stopping roll when the account needs consistent Damage, SPA, and Range without committing to a specialized status shell.

Do not call any one Trait mandatory. A Cursed Student with the right copy target and live Bleed source can outperform a rarer roll placed in the wrong cluster. Use the best Traits by unit guide to set a reroll stop before spending Trait Crystals.

Best equipment

Promise Ring is the documented unit-specific equipment from School Grounds Mastery and is also craftable at the Armory Forge. Its current passive supplies the Spirit Bats described above. Check the live chance, pity and rolled stats before farming or spending rerolls; the matching item is the first dedicated piece to test, not a requirement for using Cursed Student.

A strong generic Damage/SPA or Damage/Range roll can bridge the gap. Kunai and Magic Orb are general starting points; Physical- or Magical-only equipment must match the live damage-type icon. See the equipment-by-unit lookup and Story drop index before choosing a farm.

Best teammates and team shell

  • Verified Bleed applier: supplies the stacks required for Spirit Bats. The live status icon is the deciding evidence.
  • High-output closest ally: raises Cursed Mimicry’s copied portion; place this unit intentionally.
  • Puppet: adds amplification and rewind, but should not displace the intended copy target.
  • Salmon Sorcerer or String Demon: holds enemies inside the shared combat zone for more attacks and Bat uptime.
  • Opener or economy unit: supports early deployment, but belongs outside the closest-unit slot whenever possible.

The team compositions guide includes the Bleed-summon shell and explains why Crimson should only enter that role after an in-game Bleed check.

Placement and mode plan

Use a bend or overlapping lane where Cursed Student, the intended copy target, and the verified Bleed source all fight the same enemies. Place the copy target first, place Cursed Student beside it, then keep buffers and farm units outside that closest relationship. If the map forces a spread defense, preserve the copy relationship before chasing perfect aura coverage.

Cursed Student works best in Story, Raids, and longer Tournament attempts where third-hit follow-ups and Bat summons have time to repeat. It is less efficient in very short stages when enemies die before Bleed stacks build. Boss results depend on whether the target accepts Bleed and remains in the shared zone. The unit placement guide covers the cluster rule in more detail.

Live verification checklist

  • Capture the active banner pool, displayed Mythic odds, and pity text.
  • Confirm the base or True Love form and exact Evolution recipe.
  • Record damage type, placement cap, cost, upgrades, attack shape, and targeting.
  • Count regular attacks to verify the third-hit trigger.
  • Compare Cursed Mimicry after changing only the closest ally.
  • Confirm which live status icon counts as Bleed and how stacks are displayed.
  • Count active Bats, attacks per Bat, and behavior after a target dies or leaves range.
  • Test Promise Ring against the same generic item without changing Trait or Potential.

Quick answers

Is Cursed Student good without Bleed?

Yes. Cursed Mimicry still works, but Bleed is required for Spirit Bats, so a no-Bleed team loses a major part of the documented ceiling.

What is the biggest placement mistake?

Letting a low-damage support or farm unit become the closest copy target. Plan the cluster before combat starts and recheck it after every new placement.

Current findings reviewed July 18, 2026 from the documented release kit, tier guidance, equipment index, and team pages. Banner rotation, live percentages, valid Bleed sources, Promise Ring wording, and post-patch values require the current game panels.
