The strongest team is not six units from the top row of a tier list. A working lineup has an opener, wave clear, boss damage, control, support, and a flexible economy or mode slot. The templates below use documented current synergies and show replacements when you do not own every premium unit. Use the best DPS and best support indexes to fill each role rather than copying rarity alone.
Team templates
General six-slot build
Use one cheap opener, two damage carries with different strengths, one controller, one buffer or amplifier, and one economy or mode specialist. During a Raid, replace economy with another boss or support slot. During short Story stages, remove an expensive carry if it delays the first safe defense.
Physical team rules
The Hero buffs Physical units in range, with its buff increasing on each upgrade. Check the tag on every carry before committing to the cluster. If only one developed unit is Physical, another attacker or Puppet (Telekinetic)‘s universal amplification may provide more value.
Magical team rules
Shadow (Divine) and Forbidden Teacher are the clear Magical support pieces. Elf Mage (Unleashed) brings crit-scaled follow-ups, while Puppet contributes amplification and control. Keep carries close enough for support without sacrificing coverage on a split-lane map; the placement guide shows how to preserve both aura and lane coverage.
Burn and Bleed teams
Flame Emperor (Reincarnate) and Hollow (Blaze) form the documented current fire pair. Hollow’s damage depends on Burn, so it should not occupy a premium slot in a team that cannot maintain the status. Their dedicated pieces are compared in the equipment-by-unit guide.
Cursed Student (True Love) wants total Bleed stacks in range to summon Spirit Bats. Crimson (Brother) supplies marks, explosions, and pools, but a mark is not automatically Bleed. Use Crimson in this shell only if the live status icon explicitly confirms Bleed; otherwise bring a unit whose current panel does. Place the strongest intended copy target closest to Cursed Student, because a low-damage support can reduce copied damage.
F2P replacement rules
- Replace Salmon Sorcerer with Ice Mage or Ice Queen for early control.
- Replace Shadow’s Magical support with Forbidden Teacher.
- Use The Hero only for carries tagged Physical on the current unit panel.
- Use Greed or Scissor until the first evolved Mythic is ready.
- Remove Ramen Guy if the stage ends before the extra income repays its cost.
Quick answers
Do I need both a buffer and Puppet?
Not always. Use both when several developed carries benefit and the map supports a cluster. On spread-out maps, a flexible attacker may be stronger.
What is the safest blind team?
An affordable opener, Puppet, a broad AoE carry, Salmon Sorcerer, one matching buffer, and one flexible slot covers the largest number of unknown stages.
