Anime Expeditions does not have one mode that is best for every account. Story opens maps and equipment pools, Challenges change the rules, Expeditions use objectives and base building, and Tournaments reward a score plan. Pick the mode that drops your current bottleneck instead of repeating the hardest portal you can enter.

Current benefits, limits and contribution rules
  1. Finish Beginner Path objectives. They introduce the account systems and open the Beginner Banner.
  2. Push Story until a real bottleneck appears. Clear every Act in the current map to unlock the next map, then claim visible star and first-clear rewards.
  3. Farm the map that contains the gear you need. The map pool is confirmed, but the exact Act and drop chance should be read in Stage Info before you queue.
  4. Use Challenges when the reward matches the cost. A modifier can make your usual best team unusable, so rebuild around the active rule.
  5. Enter Raids only with a target. Check the matching evolution recipe and Raid reward panel first; public test reward lists are not a substitute for the current UI.
  6. Submit one safe Tournament score. Learn the scoring breakdown before replacing units or using limited resources for a leaderboard attempt.
  7. Use Sandbox between farms. Test one change at a time so you know whether gear, Traits or placement actually improved the run.

What is confirmed in the EA+ build?

The July 15 EA+ release notes confirm Expeditions and Payload, Solo and Duo Tournaments, Infinite Global Leaderboards, Sandbox, Unit Showcase, Spectate, party invitations, profiles and an Event Calendar. The same release added Guild creation with a name, icon, color and motto.

Story has five currently documented map pools: School Grounds, Flower Forest, Rose Kingdom, Fairy King Forest and King’s Tomb. Their food, standard equipment and unit equipment are indexed in the Story guide. A published live-build map list says later maps unlock after every Act in the previous map is cleared; it does not publish a permanent Act count, boss list or drop rate.

Do not merge these three systems

  • The historical Time Chamber event ended on July 17. Its archived reward window is not proof of permanent AFK rates.
  • AFK rewards are an account system whose rate and cap must be read in the current game UI.
  • Creator Spotlights were promoted as a distinct mode, but a complete live rotation, reward pool and schedule were not published in the July 15 patch log.

Keeping those labels separate prevents old test information from being presented as a current reward table.

Build a mode-ready six-slot team

  • Opener: an affordable unit that prevents the first leak.
  • Area carry: handles normal waves and overlapping lanes.
  • Boss carry: supplies concentrated damage when a high-HP target appears.
  • Control: slow, stagger, freeze or another effect that the enemy is not immune to.
  • Support: buffs your carry or amplifies damage on important targets.
  • Flex slot: farm, a second damage type, a mode requirement or a map-specific counter.

That template is a starting point, not a fixed meta team. A Challenge restriction, Tournament scoring rule or Raid immunity can change which role deserves the flex slot.

Where to verify changing data

Use Stage Info for waves, star conditions, the boss and stage drops. Use the Raid portal for the current unlock and reward pool. Use the Tournament panel and leaderboard header for scoring, attempts, reset and payout. Use the Event Calendar for limited events. Use the Battle Pass panel for the free and premium tracks. If one of those live panels disagrees with a pre-release guide, the game UI wins.

Game mode FAQ

Which mode should a new player play first?

Beginner Path and Story. They teach the systems and provide repeatable account progress without requiring a specialized endgame roster.

When should I stop pushing Story?

Stop when the next clear is inconsistent or requires several expensive upgrades. Farm the exact food, Gold, EXP or equipment that fixes the failure, then return.

Are Raids unlocked at level 25?

Public test reports placed the Raid unlock at player level 25. That value has not been independently captured from every July 16 live portal, so read the lock message on your account before planning a grind.

Does every Tournament use the same scoring rule?

Do not assume so. The first public Tournament strategy footage is damage-score focused, but the live rules, reset and brackets can rotate.
